JExcel Resource Center of English held its second activity on Friday,October 23 at 14:30. The members of the reading club, after having read The Legends of Sleepy Hollow, by Washington Irving, watched a short cartoon (about 24 mns long) about the same story. They enjoyed the comical ghost story and talked about its main characters; namely Ichabod, the school teacher, Brom Bones and Katrina. The themes discussed were human greed and selfishness as well as the contrast between the natural and the supernatural. All club members said they were not superstitious as they do not believe in ghosts. We all enjoyed the discussion and decided to embark on reading another story. The only problem is that there aren’t enough copies for all the students. So, they will read by turns.
